![]() | About the Pupil Portal |
The student portal is a service which provides all pupils secure access to a host of key information. This information is pulled directly from the school's central management information system (MIS). It also runs a full virtual learning environment. The portal is 100% web based meaning you just need a web browser to use it. It works from in school and from any location around the world that has internet access.
Every school will use the system differently and have direct requirements but at present every pupil can access the following information:
Home Page
When you log in you will be presented with your home page. At present it
is fixed but soon pupils will be able to pick and choose what
information and objects they would like on their front page. For now it
shows your timetable (today and tomorrow), latest content on the
intranet that is linked to subjects you study, your teachers (with
e-mail links) and your teaching groups (sets).
When you first log in you can register your mobile phone and choose a
nickname. Its important to do this as the Virtual Learning Environment
will use SMS to alert you about new content, home work, tests etc.
VLE - Virtual Learning
A virtual learning environment (VLE) is a software system designed to
help teachers by facilitating the management of educational courses for
their pupils, especially by helping teachers and pupils with course
administration. The system can track pupils progress, which can be
monitored by both teachers and pupils. While frequently thought of as
primarily tools for distance education, they are most often used to
supplement the face-to-face classroom.
Depending on how your teachers will use the new environment they
following features can be used.
